On Saturday, Oct. 6 we will be holding an annual family-friendly event that is very popular with pet people in the community — the Blessing of the Animals.

During this event, the Rev. Richard Loop, vicar of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, will bless the animals in the shelter as well as owned pets in the community.

Owners can bring their well-socialized pets to the shelter parking lot starting at 12:30 p.m. Dogs on leash and cats in carriers, please. Following a brief invocation, blessings of individual pets will begin at 1 p.m.

On this day, adoption fees for all pets will be reduced to 50 percent of the normal amount! We have some great dogs needing forever homes, as well as adorable kittens and very nice adult cats- all at this nice reduced price. Learn more about our adoption process at beachpets.com/pets/how-to-adopt.

Refreshments will be served. This is a great opportunity to have your beloved pets blessed, and meet the shelter pets. Having a new loving and forever home would be the best blessing of all for the shelter cats and dogs, some of whom are lingering here.

This is always a fun day with animal-loving people and their critters. Join us! All species of well-socialized animals are welcome!

Adoptions require approval of an adoption application. Applications are available at beachpets.com. Email the completed form to spchs330@gmail.com. Prospective adopters can also fill out an application at the shelter.

SPCHS Shelter is at 330 Second St. NE, Long Beach, WA 98631 (P.O. Box 101) 642-1180. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be sure to follow us on Facebook too!
