Animal Shelter Report: Sad ladies deserve a loving home together

It was a very sad day last week when Sterling and Lana’s owner had to surrender them to the shelter. She had had these one-year-old kitties since they were just kittens, and loved them dearly, but she lost her home and has no place to live except her car.

There were few dry eyes among the shelter staff as the owner cried and we settled the bewildered cats into the cage that was to be their new home. They looked so confused and looked at their owner as if to say: “What did we do wrong?”

Sterling is a gorgeous boy with pewter colored medium hair — very soft to the touch. His sister Lana (we are assuming they are littermates) is a very cute multi-colored tortie. Both are very personable and sweet.

Because these kitties are new arrivals, they still need to be vetted — altered, wormed, vaccinated, flea treated and tested for feline leukemia and FIV. Both appear to be very healthy.

Because these cats are so attached to each other, we are offering them at our bonded pair price, which is 50 percent off usual adoption fee, or just $55 for both. These kitties would be perfect for a person or family wanting to adopt two cats that are known to be compatible and truly fond of each other.

Yes, Sterling and Lana have just gone through a heartbreaking ordeal, but you could turn their lives around by adopting them into your loving forever home.

A tail wagging good time

On Saturday October 20, we will be having a fundraiser for medical expenses of shelter pets. This event, “Give our Beach Pets a Chance,” promises to be a lot of fun, and will include silent auctions, delicious heavy hors d’oeuvres contests, and prizes.

The event will be held at the Peninsula Moose Lodge at 25915 U Street in Ocean Park, and begins at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $25. Go to our website beachpets.com for additional details and to purchase tickets. It will be a tail wagging good time!

We need donations of goods or services for the auction. If you have items to donate, please contact the shelter at 360-642-1180. Thank you for your support!

Adoptions require approval of an adoption application. Applications are available at beachpets.com. Email the completed form to spchs330@gmail.com. Prospective adopters can also fill out an application at the shelter.

SPCHS Shelter is at 330 Second St. NE, Long Beach, WA 98631 (P.O. Box 101) 642-1180. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be sure to follow us on Facebook too!
