Wind warning for Monday

LONG BEACH — The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a high-wind warning for Pacific County for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. Places specifically included in the warning include Raymond, Long Beach, Ocean Park, Naselle, Cathlamet and Cape Disappointment. All of Clatsop County also is included in the warning.

Coastal communities should expect a south wind 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 60 mph. Near beaches and headlands, the south wind will be 35 to 45 mph with gusts 65 to 75 mph. Winds will be turning more southwest and intensifying Monday afternoon. Thunderstorms are possible. Heavy rain will continue through at least Tuesday night.

Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are possible. Travel will become difficult for high-profile vehicles along U.S. Highway 101.

Conditions were breezy at the coast Sunday morning, with gusts to nearly 40 mph overnight at Cape Disappointment.
