Herrera leads in U.S. House race; Souvenir, McClain, Runyon, Oakes lead in Pacific County races

SOUTH BEND — Preliminary results in key Pacific County races based on ballots counted Tuesday night:

• Sheriff: Robin Souvenir 53.86%, Scott Johnson (incumbent) 46.14% (3,881 votes to 3,325)

• Prosecutor: Mark McClain (incumbent) 59.74%, Pamela Nogueira Maneman 40.26%

• County commissioner: Michael Runyon 56.92%, Todd Stephens 43.08%

• PUD commissioner: Debbie Oakes 56.77%, Don Pape 43.23%

In the 19th Legislative District:

• Jim Walsh, R, (incumbent) 50.7%, Erin Frasier, D, 49.3% (19,887 votes to 19,335)

• Brian Blake, D, (incumbent) 54%, Joel McEntire, R, 46%

In the 3rd Congressional District: Jaime Herrera Beutler, R, (incumbent) 52.25%, Carolyn Long, D, 47.75% (115,616 votes to 105,654)

The ballot count reported Tuesday night reflects the 7,462 on hand in the Courthouse at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. No ballots placed in the mail or drop boxes during the day Tuesday — an estimated 1,380 votes — are included. Usually, these late votes can be expected to break about the same way as those counted so far. The next count is at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
