ILWACO — The Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum will hold its 8th Annual 6x6 Art Show and Auction is set for Saturday, Nov. 4. This year’s event, “Something Happening Here,” has gathered more than 60 wonderful art objects, from some of the region’s most talented artists. The theme for this year’s auction is inspired by the special exhibition “Flashback: Remembering the 1960s.”
“Many of the artists have dug deep into their memories to create some remarkable works that touch on themes common to both the 1960s and today,” said Museum Director Betsy Millard. “From music to social justice protests, the 1960s continue to inspire creative expression.”
The artworks will be available to view in the Museum’s special exhibition gallery from Oct. 27 until the event on Nov. 4. The works can also be seen on the Museum’s website at columbiapacificheriatgemuseum.org.
The silent and live auctions will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the museum, 115 SE Lake St., Ilwaco. Presiding auctioneer Bruce Peterson is both entertaining and knowledgeable about the artists and their works. This event is the largest fundraiser for the exhibition programs of the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum and is a great opportunity to get to know the local art scene, enjoy some delicious refreshments, take home your very own masterpiece, and most importantly show your support for the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum.
Tickets for the auction event are currently available at the museum for only $15 each. Fifty raffle tickets are being made available for $20 each. The winner will have the pick of any 6x6 prior to the auction event.
The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays are free thanks to the sponsorship of the Port of Ilwaco. Visit www.columbiapacificheritagemuseum.org.
