OYSTERVILLE — As listeners of Coast Community Radio’s “Columbia River Ship Report” can attest, Joanne Rideout is the go-to person for information on ships and shipping on the Columbia River. On Thursday, March 15, she will be the featured speaker at the Oysterville Schoolhouse Lecture Series.
“I’ll be sharing some of the unusual facts I’ve learned about the river while talking to people who work on it,” Rideout said.
The fourth in the Spring Series focused on the Columbia River, Rideout’s talk will begin at 10 a.m. Speakers scheduled for the every-other-Thursday series are all experts in the various facets of river life — from river pilots to historians.
Rideout has produced and hosted the “Ship Report” for 15 years. In addition, she has served as general manager of KMUN and as the station’s news anchor and reporter. She is a freelance journalist dedicated to covering issues and sharing stories about the Lower Columbia Region. Her work has appeared in a variety of national publications. This will be her second appearance in Oysterville.
