St. Mary’s Parish plans a series of summer services at the historic McGowan Church east of Chinook in the Middle Village/Station Camp Unit of Lewis and Clark National Park. Summer services begin at 3 p.m. on July 1, Aug. 19 and Sept. 2. McGowan was an historic salmon-canning village founded by Irish native P.J. McGowan in the mid-19th century. Its elegant little church is one of the reminders of the once-thriving community.
