LONG BEACH — A Prosser man has been charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants after colliding into the side of a police vehicle in downtown Long Beach on Aug. 13.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, Donald M. Evans, 61, from Prosser, was northbound on State Route 103 at 10:15 p.m., approaching Sid Snyder Drive in a 2015 Ford Explorer SUV when he allegedly failed to yield to Officer Jeff Cutting, who entered the Sid Snyder Drive intersection in his marked LBPD vehicle with emergency lights activated responding to a call.

Officer Cutting attempted to avoid the crash but was struck on the passenger side of his vehicle by Evans’ SUV. The police vehicle had damage but was driven from the scene. Evans’ vehicle was impounded.

In addition to alleged drunk driving, WSP cited Evans for negligent driving second-degree.

Neither driver was injured.
