ILWACO — A man was found dead north of Black Lake in a cranberry bog on Aug. 30.

The man, 41-year-old Keith James Hersey, was an Ocean Park resident and Ilwaco High School graduate. He was the son of Tom and Mary Hersey.

Hersey’s cause of death is unknown, said Pat Matlock, chief criminal deputy for the Pacific County Sheriff’s Office. Possible causes could be drowning or a medical incident, Matlock said.

“It didn’t look like there was any struggle or trauma,” Matlock said.
