NASELLE — On Friday, March 10, the fourth and final Middle School Knowledge Bowl meet of the season was held at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen. Naselle-Grays River Valley Middle School (NGRVMS) was well represented by a seventh-grade team and an eighth-grade team. Eleven teams in each of the two grade levels competed in the meet representing schools from Elma, Montesano, Hoquiam, North Beach, Wishkah, Ocosta, Raymond, Ilwaco, and Naselle-Grays River.
The members of the NGRVMS eighth-grade team were Captain Emma Colombo, Jimmy Strange, Kolby Glenn, Travis Popkin, Renton Miller, Ellexa Lebovitz and Beonna Vivlemore.
The seventh-grade team was comprised of Captain Riley Thorsen, Josh Chadwick, Joey Strange, Theron Frame, Echo Cenci, Peyton Dalton, Courtney Paul and Grace Hunt.
The eighth-grade team continued to do very well, finishing in second place. They placed first in the first meet, tied for first in the second meet and third in last week’s competition. Their cumulative total over the four meets put them in second place overall for the season.
The seventh-grade team finished in fifth place for the final meet. The team had previously finished in fifth, seventh and ninth place in previous meets. Their cumulative total put them in seventh place overall for the season.
This was just the second year NGRVMS has participated in the Knowledge Bowl meets, with results boding well for future success.
NGRV High School team, “Fellowship of the Meme,” (formerly “Meme Masterinos”) will be competing at the State Knowledge Bowl tournament in Arlington on Saturday, March 18. School counselor, Justin Laine, is the Knowledge Bowl coordinator for the school district.
