KELSO — Shirley Lethrud, 91 years old, died on August 27, 2017 at home in Kelso, Washington surrounded by family. She was born to Vern and Agnes Tow on July 24, 1926 in Evanston, Wyoming, she was the second of seven children.
Shirley married Henry Lethrud in 1965, and bought their first home together in La Center, Washington.
After Henry retired they decided to move to the beach where Hank could fish and Shirley could spend time with her grandchildren. Shirley and Hank decided to spend time traveling and so they quickly became snowbirds, traveling to Arizona in the Fall and coming home in the Spring.
Shirley is survived by her youngest sister Laurie (David) Devine of Washington; Son Larry (Eloise) Pugh of Washington and daughters Sunday (Mark) DeFrancisco of Oregon, Linda Matthews of Washington, Sidney (John) Starr of Wisconsin, Deborah Smith of Washington, and daughter-in-law Vicky Poole of Oregon. Shirley was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit.
Shirley is preceded in death by Henry, her husband of 26 years, in 1991; daughter, Jamie Romero in 2013, son, Gary Poole in 2015; father and mother Vern and Agnes; brothers James and Jack; sisters Betty, Marylou, and Karen, along with many other relatives and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life held Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. at The Stay and Beyond Inn and Suites, 800 Main St. Elma Washington, with a potluck buffet style.
