LONGVIEW — Virginia Wendelin, 93, a lifelong Grays River resident, died on Oct. 11, 2017, in Longview. She was born on April 17, 1924, in Astoria, Oregon to John and Helen (Cook) King and grew up on a farm in Grays River.
Virginia graduated from Naselle High in 1942. In the mid-1940s she married Ernest Wendelin and together they farmed in Grays River. For several years she was also the post master in Grays River.
Virginia was an active member of the Naselle Assembly of God Church and a devout Christian. She loved the farm and her family, especially time with grand- and great-grandchildren.
Ernie preceded her in 1985 as well as her brother and sister in law, Leonard and Ida King and son in law, Mark Linquist.
Virginia is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Linquist; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Joyce King; two grandchildren, Mindi Linquist (Geoff) and Jeff Linquist (Hayley) and three great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Elsa and Jay Linquist, several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at Naselle Assembly of God Church on Saturday, October 21 at 1 p.m. Virginia will be laid to rest next to Ernie in Grays River Cemetery.
