CENTRALIA — Teresa Joy Peters, 81, passed away Oct. 17, 2017 at Providence Hospital in Centralia, Wash., surrounded by her family. She was born to Harold and Charlotte Jacobs in Everett, Wash., on August 28, 1936.

Joy married Tom Peters on April 19, 1957 and started their family in Puyallup, Wash. They moved to Long Beach, Wash., in 1969.

Joy enjoyed being a housewife and mother of four children, including opening their door to two foster brothers who have remained a part of the family bringing our household to eight.

Joy especially enjoyed square-dancing as a family. We made our own square! Joy enjoyed reading (actually worked at the Ocean Park Library for a while), ceramics, making teddy bears, stained glass and working craft projects with her daughters, Terry, Becky and Nora and granddaughter, Susan. She also enjoyed teaching her daughters to sew, cook/bake, and can. Joy enjoyed her camping trips to Kalaloch with her daughters and granddaughter! Many great memories were made on their annual camping trips.

When Tom retired from Weyerhaeuser in 1983, he chose to be a long-haul truck driver around the United States. Joy and their dog “Peaches” traveled with Tom and they both got to see a lot of our beautiful country and shared lots of memories. They were able to visit their daughter, Terry and her family at her various Air Force assignments. Later Joy and Tom enjoyed train rides across the United States. Joy’s dad had worked for the railroad in Seattle and it was always something she wanted to do! Joy and Tom traveled on a cruise to Alaska for their 50th wedding anniversary as a gift from their children.

Survivors include Tom, her husband of 60 years; her brother, Charley Jacobs of Falcon, Colorado; daughters, Terry (Dick Bryan), Becky (Dean Hinckley), and Nora (James Monroe); sons, Tom (Kathy) Peters, Pat (Jeri) Card and Rick Card with companion Cameron; grandchildren, Susan, Ben, Richard, Michael and Sheri, and Amie, Sarah, and Rachel, Krystle, and Dale, Noah, Josh and Miranda; great-grandchildren include McKenna, Kamree and Rachel, McKenna, Abby and Mikel, Journey and Rory, and Jake, Owen and, Jason, and, Christian, Niko and Liliana, and Ava; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Joy was preceded in death by their grandson, Kipling York.

Joy loved her cats, and, as such, memorial contributions can be made to South Pacific County Humane Society, 324 2nd St NE, Long Beach, Washington 98631.

A family memorial will be held in the Spring 2018. Her guestbook is available at www.pentilaschapel.com.
