PASCO — Susan D. Durant, 65, died at her home in Pasco, Washington on March 17, 2018 following a valiant battle with cancer. The daughter of Charles and Lois Cameron, she was born in Yakima on March 26, 1952. Susan grew up in Parker Heights, Washington and lived with her parents on a fruit ranch until the mid-1960s when she moved to Seaview, Washington.
Susan graduated from Ilwaco High School in 1970 and immediately joined the US Navy on June 11, 1970. She served her country for two years and 11 months, honorably discharged on June 8, 1973 in San Diego with the rank of Yeoman E4. Susan enrolled at Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland in August 1974 and attended for a year and a half. Returning to the Peninsula, she graduated from Clatsop Community College in June 1977 with an Associate’s Degree in Arts.
Susan married Michael Durant on June 16, 1984. For the ensuing 34 years they resided in the Tri-Cities area. Though Susan held several jobs, her favorite was working of J&D Sales as a part-time truck driver and office clerk.
Susan was a gifted artist. She painted in several mediums, sewed, and enjoyed crafting unique and personal greeting cards which she shared with other and received many compliments on them. Her illness brought out the best in Susan, and she passed peacefully at the age of 65.
Susan is survived by her husband, Michael of Pasco; parents, Charles and Lois Cameron of Seaview; brothers, Chris (Janice) Cameron and Patrick (Sheryl) Cameron; sister, Martha Thompson; nieces, Rachel Cameron, Dana Cameron, K.C. (Ty) Wilson, Tina (Dean) Martineu; and nephew Sean Thompson (Lauren).
