LONG BEACH — The Long Beach Elks and American Legion Post 48 hosted a Veterans Day luncheon gathering at noon on Saturday, Nov. 11. Jerry Phillips, mayor of Long Beach, was the master of ceremonies. On the program was Kasey Bageant, who was the Girls State delegate from our area. This program is designed to develop young women as future leaders grounded in patriotism and Americanism, knowledgeable about the democratic process and how our republic form of government works at the state and national levels. Bageant told luncheon attendees it was a wonderful experience and helped her personal growth and confidence.
