LONG BEACH — The Long Beach Peninsula Visitors Bureau is honoring Linda Le Claire as Volunteer of the Month.
Linda Le Claire is one of the handfuls of volunteers who were actually raised here on the Long Beach Peninsula. Her father worked at Dennis Company and her mother owned a candy shop (Completely Nuts) that became well known in its own right.
But her roots go yet deeper: One of her sisters is Kathy (Le Claire) married to Dale Hughes, who has owned and operated Chinook Marine Repair for over 40 years. Another sister Karla (Le Claire) Nelson has owned Time Enough Books with her husband Peter for 18 years. The bookstore has become a point of destination for many visitors who come to the area. The fourth Le Claire sister is Lisa, who lives in Washougal, Washington with her family. Linda has two adult children who live and work in Seattle.
“Linda is deeply involved in this community,” the bureau said in a press release. “She also volunteers for Friends of the Library and Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum. Her knowledge and love of this area make her a valuable resource not only to the visitors she helps but to the other volunteers and staff. We are grateful to have someone with her knowledge and skill in helping families who are visiting this area.”
The Long Beach Peninsula Visitors Bureau is always looking for friendly people to join their team of ambassadors. If you are interested, contact Suze@funbeach.com or call 360-642-2400.
