Thornton to lead Ilwaco Masons in 2018

ILWACO — Mike L. Thornton of Long Beach will take charge of the Masons in Ilwaco in 2018. He takes over as master, the top leadership role, from Ron Robbins, who will become Occident No. 48 lodge treasurer.

The Free and Accepted Masons will install officers at the lodge, 208 E. Spruce St., in Ilwaco Nov. 30

The installation starts at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Other 2018 officers to be installed are Patrick Webb, senior warden; James Houlton, junior warden; Milt Parham, senior deacon; Les Moore, junior deacon; Glenn Ripley, secretary; Dobby Wiegardt chaplain; Jerry Bruner, marshal; Beau Morrow, senior steward; and Ed Cox, tyler.

Installing master will be Walt Twidwell, a three-time master at Ilwaco, who will lead the Masonic lodge in Montesano next year; installing marshal will be Sherman Richmond, installing chaplain will be Wiegardt and installing secretary will be Mike Carmel, a past master of the Ilwaco lodge and former district deputy to the grand master of Washington Masons.

Peninsula Masons gather in Ilwaco on the first Thursday of each month with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. and meeting at 7:30 p.m., except July and August, plus informal lunches at the lodge most Wednesdays at noon. For details, contact Carmel at (360) 642-3636.
