FORMAL IDENTIFICATION: Shoreline Master Program Ordinance SUMMARY: an ordinance which implements the Shoreline Management Act. The current SMP has generally not changed in the past 40 years. The goals of the new Shoreline Master Program (SMP) are: 1) to protect the environment and private property rights; 2) to address new legal requirements of the Shoreline Management Act; and 3 to make it consistent with the many other land regulations. These include Washington State’s Growth Management Act, and Pacific County’s comprehensive plan and zoning and critical areas ordinances. To meet these goals, the new SMP more specifically addresses such shoreline issues as agriculture, aquaculture, vegetation, shoreline stabilization, and piers and docks. To do this, the new SMP also more precisely sorts and categorizes the different shoreline environments according to history and use. If you own or have interest in a property that is in Pacific County and is on or near the shoreline, the new proposed Shoreline Master Program may impact your life. The following is a concise summary.
