ILWACO — The American Legion Post 48 and Auxiliary recently selected three students to attend State programs in June.

Elizabeth McMullen and Jasmine Judd are attending the American Legion Auxiliary’s Evergreen Girls State in Ellensburg, Washington, on the Central Washington University campus this week.

Anderson Stoddard will attend American Legion Evergreen Boys State north of Seattle next week.

These Americanism and government training programs are sponsored by the American Legion family and are nationwide opportunities for young women and young men who have just completed their junior year. Attendees are introduced to the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship by learning by doing. Attendees run for office, write bills and solve hypothetical city problems.
