Makenzie Kaech, Madeline Jacobson, Faith Richardson and Emeri Wilson all shot career lows for Ilwaco at Highland Golf Course in Cosmopolis Tuesday, May 8. Coach Bob Enos described the course as “very woody and hilly…with many sidehill lies and punch out shots from under trees and low branches.” Par was 35.
Kaech, the senior rookie golfer, shot a 46, three strokes under her previous low. Jacobson shot 49, a season-low.
Richardson had a season-low 54. “She could be a dark horse at district with her length off the tee if she can keep them in the fairways,” Enos said.
Emeri Wilson shot a season-low 59. Madison Chabot shot a 54. Her low this year is 49, meaning Ilwaco now has three golfers who have proven they can score under 50 on the right day. Freshman Maggie Jacobson shot a 63.
Counting the scores from Kaech, Jacobson, Chabot and Richardson, Ilwaco had a team score of 203, seven strokes behind Hoquiam and 33 ahead of Elma.
