OYSTERVILLE — Thursday’s Oysterville Schoolhouse Lecture will feature well-known vocalist and popular baker Andrea Patten in a new role. She will talk about her father’s experiment in designing a language.
“He was a philosopher and a psychoanalyst with degrees from the University of Vienna,” says Andrea. “In the 1950s, he developed a language based on semantic primes — semantic concepts that are innately understood but cannot be expressed in simpler terms. It became a family mission to find ways of promoting his experiment.”
Andrea has recently written a few poems based on her father’s language and one poem about the language itself. She will share this unique topic from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Oysterville Schoolhouse.
