SKAMOKAWA — In its 103 years, the Wahkiakum County Fair probably hasn’t changed a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. But that is what gives it its charm. Sure, county fairs have become enormous in size and scope, but not in Skamokawa. Here you’ll find no carnival rides, but you will find some amazing feats of gardening.  Not only do you find a horseshoe competition and a spelling bee, but also some prize-winning rabbits, as well as a wide variety of other 4H and FFA grown animals. Abigail Motin was there with her goat Walter. And of course a fair that honors the past in the present would begin the week with senior citizens day. The tagline for this year was “Country Pride, County Wide,” which is fitting for a fair full of pride.
