"Roses and Daisies" can be bid on by silent auction at local banks through May 13.

PENINSULA - The Ilwaco High School 2005 senior class has received a big boost in their fundraising efforts for their alcohol and chemical-free graduation night party with a donation of Eric Wiegardt's framed, original painting, "Roses and Daisies." The painting, valued at $1,275 is being rotated through local area banks in a silent auction-bidding format.

Dates and location of the painting are as follows: The Bank of the Pacific, Long Beach - April 4 through April 8; The Bank of the Pacific, Ilwaco - April 11 through April 15; The Bank of the Pacific, Ocean Park - April 18 through April 22; Raymond Federal Savings, Long Beach - April 25 through April 29; Key Bank, Long Beach - May 2 through May 6; and then back to the Long Beach branch of The Bank of the Pacific May 9 through May 13.

Bidding starts at $700, and bids must be increased in $25 increments. The painting will be awarded on May 13.

Wiegardt is an artist of world renown. He has been featured in numerous books and articles, and his own book, "Watercolor Free and Easy" is in its third edition, having reached international markets. His extraordinary sensitivity to the movement of reality lends his paintings a vibrancy and intensity that capture the force of what other observe, but fail to see. Thus, his work never tires; it never grows old.
