The Peninsula was swarming with people last weekend as thousands turned out to honor our country and celebrate its greatness. Loyalty Day in Long Beach is the longest continually observed occurence of the holiday in the United States. And as luck would have it, the beginning of May seems to be when the weather decides to shape up, giving the festivities a comfortable glow. Two great parades, the blessing of the local fleet on the Columbia River, and the opening of the Ilwaco Saturday market — all part of the all-American show.
