ASTORIA - The Lewis & Clark Explorer Train Steering Committee is looking for citizens interested in providing bridge tending service for the summer, Friday through Monday. Interested parties can call Bruce Conner at 325-4484.

Bridge tenders will rotate two bridges for the new train service, at John Day and Blind Slough east of Astoria. The tender will have a small boat available to row out to the bridges before train arrival, around 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Friday through Monday.

Once the train passes over the bridge, the bridges need to be turned or opened for boat traffic.
