CHINOOK — A wide spectrum of fashion eras — from the ‘20s through the trends of 2012 — were represented on Saturday as the Ocean Beach Hospital Foundation hosted its second annual fashion show fundraiser.

An event to benefit patient care and treatment programs at Ocean Beach Hospital and Medical Clinics with the theme “Styles from Vintage to Modern,” the fashion show and lunch was held inside the freshly renovated Chinook School gymnasium.

Ten hospital employees and friends of the foundation volunteered to model 30 outfits provided by Long Beach Peninsula Trading Post, Deux Chapeaux, Stylin’: A Unique Consignment Shop, and JC Penney. From casual clothing to wedding gowns, models donned sequins, hats and satin to the delight of guests who were also encouraged to dress in their favorite vintage or modern fashion.

Organizer LaDean DuPree says the funds raised will go to purchasing things that increase comfort for hospital patients.

“We buy things so that it doesn’t take money from the hospital budget,” she explains.

The foundation also hosts the Celebration of Lights holiday auction in early December and a golf tournament in September.

In the past, the foundation has helped the hospital to obtain a digital mammography machine and an ultrasound machine to assist with the placement of intravenous catheters. DuPree says the foundation also plans to offer high school scholarships.
