If it's been a while since you last enjoyed Ocean Park's culinary celebration, make it a point to attend this year's 22nd Annual Northwest Garlic Festival, June 21-22.
There certainly will be plenty of garlicky foods at the fest, but also lots of great music and other attractions.
There will be a strong contingent of vendors of everything from locally produced jewelry to elephant ears.
All this craziness came about as a result of an "innocent little festival" in 1981 at the famous Ark Restaurant in Nahcotta. Ark owners Nanci Main and Jimella Lucas decided to have a small outdoor "garlic festival" similar to the giant Gilroy, Calif., annual event. The rest, as they say, is history.
From the patio of the Ark to Bay Avenue and now so big and successful it has to be held at the Ocean Park ballfield and in the Ocean Park School, the Peninsula's own Garlic Festival is a chance to listen to excellent Northwest musicians.
Where else can you drink fine Northwest beverages while eating delicious garlic treats with a good band playing in the background? It'll be great, so please plan to join us.
