CATHLAMET - The Sacajawea Handweavers Guild will share their weaving and spinning crafts on Oct. 1 and Oct. 2 at the Pioneer Church in Cathlamet in a show and sale. There will be basket weaving and spinning demonstrations and an opportunity for children to have hands-on experience with small frame looms. Show times are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The Sacajawea Guild has 24 members covering a wide range of expertise. Some guild members raise sheep, llamas and alpacas and see the product through the shearing, spinning, weaving and felting stages. Natural or commercial dyes are used on fleece and basketry materials. The Sacajawea Guild meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month, September through May at the Merk Building in downtown Longview and anyone is welcome.
