Health Tip of the Week: Rx for viral infections: Rest, liquids and time

Viral infections can make you feel miserable. Even though antibiotics won't help, over-the-counter medicines can relieve your symptoms. The most important things you can do to recover quickly are:

• get lots of extra rest

• drink plenty of liquids (water, juice and herbal teas are best)

• give your body time to recover

Cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, dehydration and lack of sleep interfere with your immune system's ability to fight off infections.
