ILWACO - On Sept. 13, all law-abiding and loyal citizens are urged to be vigilant and alert to the presence on your coast of the Weatherly, fast and heavily armed Clipper Schooner Lynx. The 122-foot square topsail schooner Lynx will be sailing into the West Main Dock at the Port of Ilwaco. Join the flotilla on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m. as she fires from her main battery of six-pound carronades. Don't miss this photo opportunity as we relive history.

The Lynx is an interpretation of a privateer or naval schooner from the War of 1812. She is fitted with period ordnance and flies pennants and flags from the 1812 era making her one of the first ships to defend our freedom. The Lynx crew wear period uniforms and operate the ship in keeping with the maritime traditions of early 19th Century America. The Early American history and science programs taught aboard Lynx are state-standards- based programs endorsed by the Orange County Department of Education.

The privateer Lynx was hired to train the cast and crew of the hit movie "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Climb aboard and step back in time as you relive history hauling on lines to raise the sails, learning the life of a sailor during the early 1800s and firing a round of black powder from the cannons on board. Don your pirate gear and get ready to rumble.
