ILWACO - Visitors to the celebration of Clamshell Railroad Days at the Ilwaco Heritage Museum this weekend will have the opportunity of viewing a slideshow presentation by Nancy Gorshe before they take the popular tour of the old railroad route. Presentations will be given one hour before the scheduled tours.

Members of the Model Railroad club in conjunction with the Peninsula team of Destination: the Pacific is working on an updated map of the rail line. The working team of Harry Bell, Dean Mead and Sandy Tellvik have been out literally "beating the bushes" to find any remnants of the line and taking GPS readings to mark these sites.

Contrary to popular belief, the line did not follow the highway for most of its course. Many sections are now on private property and inaccessible to the public. Discrepancies have been found on several existing maps and the team is trying to sift through as many sources as possible to determine the actual siting of the line. It's a work in progress and any information, old photos or railroad memorabilia would be most welcome. Please come and share your knowledge or just join us to learn more about this historic feature of our Peninsula.
