‘I Pledge Allegiance’ 
Loyalty Days mark 2/3s of a century

LONG BEACH — The 67th annual Loyalty Days are packed with patriotic events this Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7. The theme of this year’s event is “I Pledge Allegiance.”

Children’s Parade in Ilwaco

11 a.m. — Entertainment, Parade Registration and Vendors

11:30 a.m. — Parade formation

Noon — Parade Starts

Blessing Of The Fleet

Ilwaco Boat Basin (Saturday Market)

Coast Guard Auxiliary Display 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ilwaco Boast Basin — 52-foot Lifeboat Display Memorial Service includes free scenic boat rides leaving dock at 1 p.m. escorted by Cape Disappointment Coast Guard Lifeboat Sponsored by the Ilwaco Charter Association

Oyster Feed — 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Long Beach Elks Club. Open to public. Sponsored by Long Beach Elks BPOE #1937

Honor’s Banquet — Saturday, May 6, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. social hour, program starts at 6 p.m.; dinner at 6:20 p.m. Guest speaker — Mary Todd Lincoln (Margaret Harding). Special guest is U.S. Air Force Gen. Randolph Staudenraus, a Peninsula native and 1983 Ilwaco High School graduate. Call 642-4441 for space availability.

Cowboy Breakfast — 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. — Peninsula Saddle Grounds. Sponsored by Peninsula Saddle Club

Fire Truck Rides For Kids — 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Ilwaco Fire Hall.

Light Lunch for Parade Participants — 10 a.m. to Noon at Long Beach Fire Hall

Judging Of Floats — 10 to 11:30 a.m. — Floats judged in line-up position

Parade Formation (Units to be in place) Noon at N. 7th St., Long Beach

Loyalty Day Program

Noon at 3rd S. Long Beach; Reviewing stand with master of ceremonies Jim Sayce

Bleacher seating available — Handicap access

1 p.m. — Parade Starts; two A10 Air Force planes will make a flyover.

Trophies Awarded Veterans Field — 3rd & Oregon Ave. S., behind Police Station & Funland Naselle High School Marimba Band will perform from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Trophies awarded followed by performance.
