PORT OF ILWACO - The first of three Art Walks is planned for Thursday, June 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ilwaco Harbour Village at the Port of Ilwaco.
All the shops and restaurants at the port will be open and offering specials and discounts. The port's three galleries - Cymbolics, Shoalwater Cove and The Wade Gallery - will be open for viewing new original art and for sipping a glass of wine.
At Cymbolics, a collection of original work by late Texas artist George Hampton will be unveiled. Hampton was a popular artist in Texas from the 1950s to the 1970s. The gallery will have a free raffle for an art work by gallery owners Rick and Robin Parker.
Photographer Bruce Peterson, co-owner of The Wade Gallery with his wife, Wendy, will unveil a new art print - "Big Joe." Peterson uses the latest techniques to enhance digital photographs that transcend traditional methods using high saturation of colors and dynamic angles. He prints his photos on a giclee printer and limited, numbered editions are available at the gallery.
Also at Wade Gallery are black and white museum-quality photographs by Dirk Swearingen of Seaview. New work by Swearingen is titled "The Rodeo."
At Shoalwater Cove, a new original painting by Marie Powell, "Heron at Bear River," also will be unveiled.
The new restaurant at the port - Pauly's Bistro - will be offering two free meals. The Canoe Room will have free appetizers plus a 20 percent discount on entrees.
