ILWACO — How does one get into the total spirit of the entire holiday season? One fantastic way is to attend Water Music Society’s annual Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 2, at the festive Inn at Harbour Village in Ilwaco.

“Concertgoers will be energized, mesmerized and wonderfully entertained with the sounds of Christmas music and other seasonal favorites from Rebecca Kilgore, the quintessential jazz singer, and her talented combo,” WMS organizers said in a press release. “It’s a magical musical feast the entire community will enjoy!”

Festivities commence at 2 p.m. with a social hour filled with holiday savory and homemade sweet treats, beverages and a no-host wine bar including champagne and raspberries. The concert will begin at 3 p.m.

Get your tickets now, as this popular annual event sells out quickly. Tickets are $10, available either at the door or online at watermusicfestival.com. Part of the proceeds of all of Water Music Society’s events goes to the local school music departments to assist students in musical enrichment and educational opportunities.

Water Music Festival’s audience at the “Swing Fever” concert in 2017 were impressed by Kilgore’s fabulous voice. For the Christmas Concert, she will be joined by instrumentalists playing the melodious piano, string bass, saxophone, clarinet and trombone.

Rebecca Kilgore is simply one of the best interpreters of The Great American Songbook. She has a gorgeous voice and a deep connection with every song she touches. She is absolutely the “real thing”. She regularly performs worldwide at jazz festivals, and on jazz cruises. She has been a frequent guest on National Public Radio’s ‘Fresh Air’, has appeared on ‘A Prairie Home Companion,’ and with Michael Feinstein at Carnegie Hall.

She is honored to have been inducted (in 2010) to the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and to the Jazz Society of Oregon Hall Of Fame, and to have been invited to perform at New York’s Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention for three years at Town Hall and Lincoln Center. She was the guest of honor at the 2013 Roswell (New Mexico) Jazz Festival, and honored as a Jazz Legend at the San Diego Jazz Party in 2016.
