LONG BEACH - A capacity crowd turned out Saturday and Sunday for Long Beach's famous old rodeo, which draws contestants and spectators from all over the Pacific Northwest.
A community effort, dozens of local individuals and businesses contributed to making the rodeo a success.
There were many thrills of victory, along with quite a few agonies of defeat, but no reported serious injuries - despite what you might guess from some of the photos on this page.
Among the laughs was this remark overheard by our photographer as a bronc-buster searched the arena's dirt for his missing belt buckle between events (we've cleaned it up a bit): "The son-of-gun ought to be able to find it - it's as big a frigging dinner plate!"
