OCEAN PARK — The 32nd Annual Northwest Garlic Festival is looking to add more local flavor to its upcoming food and craft event. Known over the years for everything garlic (including ice cream), the festival planners are working on improving the recipe of good food and quality merchandise by increasing the presence of local seafood cuisine and hand crafted items.

    The 2013 NW Garlic Festival runs June 15 and June 16 in Ocean Park.  Located at Wilson Field, just two blocks south of Bay Avenue on Sandridge Road, the venue has three sides bordered by evergreen trees with the fourth side providing glimpses of Willapa Bay.

    Vendors and artisans may register for a booth through the OPACC’s website, www.opwa.com, the festival’s website http://garlic.aisol.com or by stopping in at the Chamber office Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 1715 Bay Avenue in Ocean Park.  A 10x10 site costs $100 for the two-day, outdoor event. Sites with electricity run $125. There are discounts for multiple spaces and the deadline to register and pay is May 23, or until all spaces are filled.

    In order to participate in the annual festival, vendors and artisans are required to sell items inspired by garlic and are urged to keep the festival motto in mind … “It’s Chic to Reek.” Because the festival limits the number of booths carrying similar merchandise, it is best to register early to guarantee a spot.
