Bodacious waves at Waikiki

Courtney Western, 12, took this photo while visiting her relatives, Ward and Dorothy Payne, who live in Long Beach. She was excited about the storm and the way the waves were crashing on the rocks. She thought that the weather and waves were making stunning photo opportunities. She and her family went down to Waikiki beach and stood while taking several photos. This is her favorite. The storm Friday and Saturday generated big waves all along Washington's outer coast. Wind gusts topped out at 83.4 mph at Radar Ridge above Naselle and 3.41 inches of rain fell Saturday at WSU's Long Beach Research and Extension Unit on Pioneer Road on the Peninsula, a record for the date. The total was 5.15 inches at the Naselle hatchery.
