Washaway Beach on the north side of the mouth of Willapa Bay is living up to its name as the afternoon high tide approaches Sunday, Oct. 24. Powerful waves are tearing away at the shoreline of one of the fastest-eroding places on the mainland West Coast. The house nearest where these photos were taken is in imminent peril — currently being doused with sea spray — and is valued by Pacific County at only $400 because of its precarious position.
