KLIPSAN - The American Association of University Women (AAUW) kicks off this year's programming on Monday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Peninsula Senior Center.

This meeting is an opportunity for anyone interested in the organization to learn more about it. Celebrating AAUW's 125th birthday, the program will be dedicated to "getting to know all about us" - how and why the AAUW was started, how it was started on the peninsula, what the purpose of the organization is, and how it has grown and changed since its inception.

Future programs will include a community book project, holiday traditions, women's health issues, information about coping with "the blues", and more. AAUW meets at the Senior Center on the third Monday of each month September through May. The only exception to this is October, when rather than meeting, the group holds a scholarship fund raiser by selling pies at the Cranberrian Fair.

Anyone with an associate or higher college degree is welcome to join. For further information, see www.aauw.org. For local membership information, call Janet Easley (665-5580) or Susan Carney (777-8019). Or stop by the AAUW booth at the Cranberrian Fair for information and/or a piece of pie.
