Senior Information & Assistance

Last time out, we mentioned the Oct. 26 Community Health Forum being held at the Ilwaco Heritage Museum. By the time this is being read, the forum will be over; however, at the time of writing, it has yet to occur. So any news of the event will have to wait until another time. (With time-warp living, there's always some confusion.)

We anticipate it to be a healthy and fruitful forum.

And as promised last time, more detail about the upcoming Elder Law Forum/Senior Fair:

Thursday, Nov. 6, O3A/Senior Information & Assistance is sponsoring the combined event at the Peninsula Church Center in Seaview. (You may have seen the ad in last week's Observer - p.B16 at the bottom.) The activities will run simultaneously from 9-11:15 a.m., when the legal folks will be heading toward a similar forum in north county. (and, refreshments will be served!)

Briefly, these present opportunities in various ways:

Elder Law Forum

• 9-11:15 a.m. Speakers will include attorneys from Columbia Legal Services and a Washington State Insurance Commissioner representative. Questions about long-term care, estate planning, wills, medical power of attorneys, Social Security and so on will be addressed. Your part is to ask. So come prepared with your questions.

• In the afternoon, the Elder Law Forum will be in Raymond at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church basement from 1-4 p.m. - with refreshments! They will have the same folks and an additional attorney for all your questions. Again, come prepared.

Senior Fair

The Senior Fair runs from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m., so in the morning, you can take in the Elder Law Forum, then drift across to the fair! (And refreshments will be served!) The Senior Fair offers information about community resources and services, blood pressure checks, drawings ... and did I mention refreshments?

If you have any questions, give us a call. A lot of folks have responded with eagerness to be there and present what they do. It's another opportunity for the community - you - to see not what we do so much, but what the community does.
