NASHVILLE, TENN. - Alfred J. Richardson, 81, passed away June 4, 2004, in Nashville, Tenn.

Mr. Richardson served in the Pacific with the Navy during World War II. He worked on the Panama Canal for 17-1/2 years and retired as senior lockmaster. He was a member of the Forest Hills United Methodist church, the Elks Club, Hillsboro-Harding Road Exchange Club, the Flat Rock Squares square dancers, Amateur Radio Club, a long-time member of the Shire and Order of the Scottish Rite Masons, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Panama Canal Zone Association and Amvets.

He was president of the Pacific County Historical Society, Grange Association and the Naselle Chamber of Commerce.

He is survived by his wife Sue C. Richardson of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter Anne Marie Richardson; sons, Alfred Richardson and Allan Richardson; step-daughter, Mary Sue Fleischauer; step-son, H. H. Caldwell; sister Lucile Richardson, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at Forest Hills United Methodist Church. A private burial was held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society, American Lung Association or the Hillsboro-Harding Exchange Club.
