PENINSULA - Bed, Beach & Breakfast Inns and the Water Music Festival Society are joining together to present a weekend of joy during this holiday season. And they're inviting the community to participate!
On the weekend of Dec. 13 and Dec. 14, the Long Beach Peninsula Bed & Breakfast Association will hold its annual "Homes for the Holidays" Open House event. Association members have been inviting the public to tour their homes and enjoy special holiday treats for ten years.
Admission to each house, one non-perishable food item per house, is donated to the ReachOut Food Bank. In 2001, the association introduced its first Gingerbread House show along with the open house.
The Water Music Festival Society sponsored the first annual "A Tuba for Christmas" concert last year. The concert added such a cheerful note to the season that it has also become an annual event. The admission to this very special performance is free to all.
There will, again, be a display of holiday creations in keeping with the "Homes for the Holidays" theme. This year, homes in many forms will be featured, and all of you folks with hidden, or not so hidden, talents have the opportunity to share your gifts with your community.
We're accepting gingerbread houses, bird houses, or one-room doll houses, all dressed up in the holiday style. Your efforts will be displayed either at "A Tuba for Christmas" or at one of the participating Bed & Breakfast Inns. Your items will be returned to you after the tours, and you may take them home or donate them to an institution of your choice.
"A Tuba for Christmas," sponsored by the Water Music Festival Society, will take place on Dec. 13 at 10 a.m., at the Peninsula Church Center.
"Homes for the Holidays" Bed & Breakfast Tours are open on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Participating B&B's are Boreas, Doveshire, Lion's Paw, Shelburne Inn, and Whalebone House.
