SEAVIEW Former U.S. Congressman Brian Baird will be at the Shelburne Inn in Seaview 2 to 4 p.m. this Saturday to sign copies and discuss his recent book, Character, Politics and Responsibility: Restarting the Heart of the American Republic.
Baird, who retired after 12 years representing Pacific County and the Thirrd Congressional district, has published a bold, straightforward look at the most challenging problems facing the nation. Beginning with a call for restoration of character and responsibility in our politics and personal lives, Baird tackles everything from the economy to entitlement reform, energy to immigration.
According to a press release from Pacific County Democrats, his diagnosis of the problems and opportunities we face spares neither political party nor special interest groups, and his practical proposals for solutions are a much-needed breath of common sense and fresh air.
At the Shelburne, Baird will discuss how the book came about, some of the key policy areas it addresses, and field questions and discussion from the audience. Copies will be available for sale.
The event is sponsored by the Pacific County Democrats, and the discussion will appeal to all, no matter their political persuasion.
