LONG BEACH - The Bank of the Pacific announced the immediate appointment of Long Beach resident Edwin W. Ketel and Aberdeen resident Doug Schermer to the Pacific Financial Corporation board. Ketel and Schermer have been serving on the local loan boards since September of 2001.

Ketel and his wife are both veterinarians and owners of Oceanside Animal Clinic in Seaview. Schermer is the President of Schermer Construction Inc., a road building and rock crushing business located in Hoquiam.

Joe Malik, Pacific Financial Corporation Chairman noted, "Ketel and Schermer are both well-regarded businessmen in their respective communities. Their appointments continue The Bank's goal of an orderly transition as existing board members approach retirement over the next two to three years."

Bank President and CEO, Dennis Long added, "The Bank has always been committed to the communities it serves. The addition of Ketel and Schermer demonstrates The Bank's resolve in continuing that tradition."

Pacific Financial Corporation is a bank holding company with total assets of $268 million, operating ten branches as The Bank of the Pacific in Grays Harbor, Pacific, and Wahkiakum counties.
