Bayside Singers looking for a few good men

Interested in singing? Especially if you're a guy, your voice will be welcome among the Bayside Singers.

PENINSULA — The Bayside Singers group is looking for a few good men. The Peninsula-based choir, currently about 20 strong, has four men in its mixed group (two men and a few of the women were missing at the photo shoot), but they would like to recruit more male voices.

Under the direction of Sandy Nielson of Nahcotta, the singers resumed rehearsal last week after a break following the holidays. Four new members joined at the Jan. 10 rehearsal: Holly Beller, Ruth Ann Evans, Bob Hughes and Lynda Layne.

The group is currently working on a variety of music, including: “Con Te Partiro’” (a song recorded by Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban and others); “And So It Goes” (words and music by Billy Joel); and “It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)”, as well as several others.

Bayside Singers was started in 2009 with just nine vocalists. It has continued to grow and perform around the Peninsula.  Rehearsals are each Monday afternoon in Ocean Park. For information on joining, call Sandy Nielson at 665-2540 or Claire Everitt at 665-6055.
