‘Beauty & the Beast’ opens this Friday

During a costume fitting last Friday, Cameron Birch, who plays the part of Chip in the Naselle School Drama Club performance of 'Beauty and the Beast,' is given his tea cup outfit.

NASELLE — “Beauty and the Beast Jr.” will be presented by the Naselle School Drama Club May 6, 7, 13, and 14 at 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and 7 p.m. on Saturdays in the school commons. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for students.

The colorful play is directed by Barbara Swanson, costume design is by Lorey Steppe, set designers are Patty Crawford and Becky Teubner, sound is by Ron Baldwin, lights are operated by Bill Coop, and choreographers are Grace Zimmerman and Shalin Wulf.

Narrators are Bruce Williams, Kaila DaVall, Sham Wulf and Chloe Zimmerman. The old beggar woman and enchantress is played by Haleigh See and the prince is Nathan Reitz. Belle is Emily Saari, Maurice is played by J.P. Cooley, and the Beast is Cramer Smith. Kyle Mullins plays Gaston and Aaron DaVall is Lefou. 

Cody Cooley plays the part of Lumiere, Kyler Wulf is Cogsworth, Rachel Underwood plays Mrs. Potts, Cameron Birch is Chip, Cassie Van Dusen plays Madame de la Grande Bouche and Babette is played by Shalin Wulf. Silly girls are Kayti Nelson, Mary Wirkkala, Kaila DaVall, Olivia Zimmerman and Abigail Bennett. Wolves are Keith Reitz, Tyler Verhulst and Jake Clark, and Cole Bergeson is Monsieur D’Argue. 

The bookseller is Emily Gjovik, aristocratic lady Grace Zimmerman, fishermen are Tyler Verhulst and Jake Clark, baker is Keith Reitz, fruit vendor is Elizabeth Winters, and lady with baby is Allison Todd. Candle girl is played by Abby DaVall, hat seller is Savannah Zimmerman, milkmaid is Kendra Leeland, and egg seller is Selah Wulf.

Villagers include Taylor Eaton, Isabel Zimmerman, Ellie Chapman, Kyryn Jacot and Shannon Christie. Household servants are played by Emily Gjovik, Abigail Bennett, Grace Zimmerman, Kendra Leeland, Abby Davall, Chloe Zimmerman, Savannah Zimmerman, Selah Wulf, Elizabeth Winters, Allison Todd, Kaila Davall, Mary Wirkkala, Kayti Nelson and Olivia Zimmerman.

Household cups are Taylor Eaton, Shannon Christie, Kyryn Jacot, Isabel Zimmerman, and Ellie Chapman. The play is done with special permission from Music Theatre International and all rights are reserved by 2008 Disney Enterprises, Inc. Music is by Alan Menken and lyrics are by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. The book is by Linda Woolverton.
