ILWACO - Soldiers from Fort Lewis plan to land one or two Army UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters at the Ilwaco airport for about three to five minutes and then depart on July 19 and July 28, sometime between 10 p.m. and midnight.

The purpose of this training is to conduct night landing practice and pick up of a passenger, according to a Fort Lewis spokesman. The Blackhawk is one of the quieter helicopters available for this training, and was selected to minimize the impact of noise on nearby residents.

Pacific County Chief Criminal Deputy Ron Clark will be helping coordinate the training, and Long Beach Police Department has been asked to provide a car to be on station nearby in case anyone has questions on both nights.
