ILWACO — The Boys & Girls Club of the Long Beach Peninsula is proud to announce Rebecca Bageant and Nathan Whybark as the February Club Kids of the Month!

Twelve-year-old Rebecca is in Mrs. Clark’s sixth grade class and has been a club member since Boys and Girls Club opened in September 2008. When told that she was chosen as one of the club kids of the month, she said she was shocked.

“I wasn’t expecting it,” she says. “But now that I am, it is cool.”

Rebecca’s favorite things at club are playing pool, hanging out with friends and the “awesome” staff. She says the Boys and Girls Club is an “amazing place to hang out” and hopes that the club will get basketball hoops to use one day.

Thirteen-year-old Nathan is a seventh grader at Ilwaco Middle School and has been a member since last year.

“Really, I am forced to, but I am happy to do it!” he says in regards to going to club every day. “I am happy that I come here, even though I was forced to, I now love it!”

Shocked, surprised and honored to be Kid of the Month, he says he likes the activities and the people that attend Boys and Girls Club. As for things that he would like to see added at club, Nathan says, “The only thing  missing is more people, I mean you can’t really do anything about the food, so that is about it.”
