LONG BEACH - Long Beach resident Brenda Kay Senske, 49, died Dec. 2, 2002 at her residence following a four-year battle with breast cancer.

The daughter of James and Veris (Dankworth) Webb, she was born Dec. 30, 1952 in Safford, Ariz. She attended grade school there until her family moved to Portland, Ore. in 1965. There she finished grade school and attended Grant High School her freshman year before moving to Milwaukie, Ore. where she graduated from Clackamas High School.

At Clackamas High School she met David Senske in 1968 and they became high school sweethearts. They were married in 1971 at the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and celebrated their 31st anniversary on Nov. 5 of this year.

During her life Mrs. Senske worked as a waitress, bank note teller, manager of Fabricland and co-owner of Peninsula Dairy and Ice in Long Beach.

She was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her ancestors include many of the Mormon pioneers that crossed the Plains in the mid-1800s. She enjoyed tracing her family history and served as director of the Family History Center at the Long Beach LDS church. She also served her faith as counselor in the Stake Relief Society Presidency, Ward Relief Society President, Young Women President, Young Women Camp Director, Primary President, Cub Scout leader, Teacher Improvement Coordinator and nursery leader. She usually wore several hats at the same time. While her husband served as branch president, Mrs. Senske served along with him in many capacities.

A devoted mother, Mrs. Senske volunteered many hours to help her children at school functions and was active in 4-H and PTA. Prior to locating to the Long Beach Peninsula in 1994 she home schooled and taught them the most important things in life on a daily basis. The family believes that "families are forever." She enjoyed ceramics, quilting, reading, compassionate service and providing family heritage pages to her family.

Besides her husband she is survived by son Jonathan; daughters Jennifer and Emily; mother Veris and step-father Hap Moore of Desert Center, Calif.; father Jim Webb and wife Jodi of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; sisters Barbara Heffelfinger of Kimberly, Idaho and Peggy McGrady of Hillsboro, Ore.; brother Daniel Webb of Ontario, Ore.; step-brothers Mike Moore of Spokane, and Rick Moore of Portland, Ore.; step-sisters Lynda Dietz of Carson City, Nev., and Teri Fletcher of Portland, Ore.

Funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 6, 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Long Beach. Dedication of the grave follows at Lone Fir Cemetery in Long Beach. The family suggests memorials to the Brenda Senske Fund at the Long Beach branch of Key Bank. Arrangements by Penttila's Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach.
