Cameo Ulbricht accepted into USCG Academy

NEW LONDON, CT. — Cameo Ulbricht was officially accepted into the United State Coast Guard Academy May 1 and will be sworn in at New London, Conn. June 27. She received a letter from the USCG Academy recognizing her for “superior academic achievement, leadership, and potential” for her studies at New Mexico Military Institute.

The USCG Academy is by far the smallest of the five military service academies with 400 appointments among the 4,000 applicants each year. “Cadets receive a full tuition scholarship and monthly stipend for a five year service commitment to the Coast Guard upon graduation. All graduates receive a Bachelor of Science degree and are guaranteed a position of leadership as a commissioned officer in the USCG. The Academy Corps of Cadets are the nation’s best and brightest students, ready to serve and lead their country,” the letter states.

Ulbricht is a 2010 graduate of Ilwaco High School. She is the daughter of Rick and Ramona Ulbricht of Oysterville and granddaughter of Clem and Vickie Ulbricht of Brewster, Minn.
